13 Sep 2020

Sunday, September 13, 2020: In what can be described as a fantastic weekend for the sport of MuayThai with the return to global action, the German city of Hamburg played host to two WBC MuayThai championship title fights.

The vacant WBC MuayThai European cruiserweight championship was up for grabs when Gerrardo Atti faced off against Jakob Styben for the main event of the Day of Destruction promotion.

It was to be Gerrardo and his team's day of glory when he overcame the formidable challenge of Styben to become the WBC MuayThai cruiserweight champion of Europe.

WBC MuayThai German 135 pound domestic glory was at stake when Mahdi Akbari squared off against Mo Zamzam for the vacant WBC MuayThai lightweight championship strap.

Mahdi showcased his developing skill set to outgun Mo and in doing so he became the new WBC MuayThai lightweight champion of Germany.

On behalf of WBC MuayThai President, Pol. General Kovid Bhakdibhumi, we would like to congratulate both fighters for their magnificent victories. A special mention of thanks to our team in Germany and to the promoter of the event.
