David McRobert claimed the WBC MuayThai Celtic Championship in the 69.8kg division with an impressive third-round TKO victory over Tiernan, using relentless forward pressure and devastating knees in the clinch to secure the prestigious green and gold title.
The opening round saw Tiernan establish his rhythm with effective jabs, low kicks and body kicks, looking to control the distance and keep McRobert at range. However, McRobert continued to press forward, quickly recognising his advantage in the clinch.
In the second round, McRobert increased the pressure, repeatedly closing the distance and delivering powerful knees from the clinch. His sustained attacks forced the referee to administer an eight-count to Tiernan, signalling a significant shift in momentum.
The third round brought more of the same as McRobert refused to give his opponent any breathing room. His relentless clinch attacks and punishing knees resulted in two further eight-counts, leaving Tiernan unable to continue.
The contest was stopped in the third round, confirming McRobert as the new WBC MuayThai Celtic Champion at 69.8kg.
The championship contest was hosted and promoted by Ally Smith and the team at Pure MuayThai, who continue to provide a platform for competitive MuayThai and championship opportunities.
Congratulations to David McRobert and his team on a commanding performance and a memorable championship triumph.
