The “WBC MuayThai Thailand” team, proudly representing the Kingdom at the Amazing MuayThai World Festival 2025, has returned home after a historic and successful mission in Verona, Italy — bringing with them not only seven medals (2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze) but also immense pride for introducing MuayThai to the global stage in a momentous opening ceremony at the iconic 2,000-year-old Verona Arena.
On the evening of July 1, 2025, at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Prechaporn Suwatnodom, Vice President of the WBC MuayThai, was present to welcome the team and present flowers to the young athletes, commending their outstanding performance and invaluable role in representing Thailand during the 157th anniversary of Thai-Italian diplomatic relations.
Dr. Prechaporn stated:
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the WBC MuayThai Thailand Team, led by Mr. Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and Coach Monrit Sitsongpeenong, for their tremendous success at the Amazing MuayThai World Festival 2025 held from June 25–29. With nearly 1,000 participants from 72 countries, this event elevated MuayThai to the world stage. Most significantly, the team made history by presenting MuayThai with honor and pride during the opening ceremony at Verona Arena — the first such occasion in over 2,000 years. I also congratulate all medal-winning youth athletes, who will be awarded full scholarships for undergraduate studies at Bangkok Thonburi University.”
Team captain Sitthichai added:
“It was truly an honor to be part of this historic event. Thousands were in attendance, and to hear the unified chant of ‘MuayThai’ during the opening ceremony was unforgettable. Despite the long journey and time zone adjustment, our young athletes fought with heart and spirit. As a first-time coach and team captain, I’m proud of our achievements and will carry this experience forward to continue developing MuayThai talent.”
