Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Surasak Phanacharoenworakul, today welcomed a delegation from WBC MuayThai to discuss final preparations for the upcoming 2026 Amazing MuayThai World Festival, which will take place in Bangkok from June 25–29, 2026.
The WBC MuayThai delegation was led by WBC MuayThai President Major General Thanapol Bhakdibhumi, accompanied by WBC MuayThai Secretary General Kevin Noone and Col.Tiruth Suwanamas.
Discussions focused on the continued growth of the festival, international participation, and the event’s role in promoting Thailand’s national sport and cultural heritage to a global audience.
The 2026 Amazing MuayThai World Festival is expected to be the largest edition in the event’s history, welcoming an estimated 3,000 attendees and 940 athletes representing more than 60 countries from around the world. The festival continues to demonstrate the growing international appeal of MuayThai and its ability to unite athletes, coaches, officials, and enthusiasts from every continent.
Major General Thanapol Bhakdibhumi expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports for its ongoing support of MuayThai development and international promotion, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between government agencies and sporting organizations in positioning Thailand as the global home of MuayThai.
The festival will feature four days of international amateur competition, cultural activities, educational programs, and networking opportunities designed to showcase the traditions, values, and future of MuayThai. The Opening Ceremony will be held at Bangkok’s historic Rajadamnern Stadium, celebrating the rich heritage of Thailand’s national sport before competition begins at Nimibutr Arena.
Minister Surasak Phanacharoenworakul reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sports tourism and strengthen Thailand’s reputation as a world-class destination for international sporting events.
With just weeks remaining until the opening ceremony, both parties expressed confidence that the 2026 Amazing MuayThai World Festival will deliver another landmark event for the global MuayThai community and further reinforce Thailand’s position as the heartland of the sport.
