September 24, 2026 — Thailand’s Muban Chombueng Rajabhat University, through its College of Muay Thai Studies and Thai Traditional Medicine, will join WBC MUAYTHAI at the 2026 Amazing MuayThai European Festival in Sardinia, Italy, from October 15–18, to co-organize academic and research activities celebrating the sport’s cultural heritage and international reach.
Bringing together athletes, coaches, officials and enthusiasts, the festival will provide a platform for sharing knowledge beyond the competition ring. The university’s participation will connect Thai academic expertise and traditional practices with Europe’s MuayThai community, encouraging dialogue with organizations and practitioners in Italy.
The collaboration supports the university’s research project, “Integrating Muay Thai with Quality Tourism to Drive Thailand’s Creative Economy toward Global Recognition.” Activities will explore the relationship between MuayThai, cultural exchange and quality tourism, examining how these connections can contribute to Thailand’s creative economy and strengthen international appreciation of Thai heritage.
A highlight of the university’s contribution will be a traditional Mongkon-making workshop, introducing participants to the knowledge and craftsmanship behind one of MuayThai’s most recognizable cultural symbols. Worn by athletes during pre-fight ceremonies, the Mongkon represents a connection to the sport’s traditions, teachers and training communities.
The workshop will offer festival participants an opportunity to engage with this heritage through learning and practical experience, adding a cultural dimension to the gathering in Sardinia.
Alongside these activities, the university’s delegation will exchange knowledge with MuayThai organizations and practitioners in Italy and explore opportunities for future academic, research and cultural cooperation.
For WBC MUAYTHAI and the Amazing MuayThai European Festival, this collaboration reflects a commitment to developing the sport while preserving the traditions that give it its identity.
